We have just arrived back from our Indian holiday and I have to congratulate you for the organization of the Golden Triangle Tour. Every thing was so well organized including Mukesh's personal meeting at Delhi Airport. The guides were all first class and we were delighted with the pedal rickshaw ride in Old Delhi which came as a surprise. We were also surprised that local agents met us at both Agra & Jaipur to ensure that our hotel registration and departure went to plan ( as it did ). We were also delighted that all entry fees were already included. Lastly we had an excellent driver for the period and he acted as unofficial guide when we were traveling between locations. We would have no hesitation in recommending Dominion Travel to any of our friends who may be contemplating a visit to India, and there will be a few interested after we tell them of our wonderful experience.

We contacted Dominion Travel on a recommendation with an outline itinerary that another travel agency seemed to consider difficult. Maybe that was because we were trying to cram a lot into 16/17 days maximum; maybe it's because I'm a photographer and want to be in the right place at the right time but at the same time we were reluctant to compromise on accommodation standards and not at all prepared to take hygiene risks. However their "can do" attitude got us a proposed itinerary and hotels in a few days, with zero "attitude" when we wanted to change a minority of them.

We just got back from our trip during which there were no material problems whatsoever. Dominion had not only chosen good hotels but in several cases had secured upgrades. Some of the hotels- and I'm thinking of the Raj Palace in Jaipur, the Imperial in Delhi and the Mandawa Castle hotel were just downright beautiful. For most trips of this nature, having a reliable driver is perhaps as important as the hotels. We spent maybe 60 hours in our driver's modern and spacious car over the 17 days on journeys long and short. It's critical that you have a driver who is utterly reliable, always meets you dead on time, because if you driver doesn't show once, you'll be anxious for the rest of your trip. Equally he has to know every town intimately, and guide you smoothly through some of the worst road traffic you will ever see whilst making headway. We had such a man and his name is Vikram, and I really can't over-stress the importance of having a travel-agent that can organise drivers of this quality and with whom you are comfortable to travel, day in day out.

I'm going to be controversial and suggest that guides are less important than the driver. Most guides you have only for a day or two on an individual tour. That said they do need to be reliable- ours were and in all cases the driver got a call a few hours before to set the place and time to meet and in all cases the guide was there. Speaking English well enough to absorb and answer questions, rather than just making pre-learned speeches is another,. Your travel agent needs to have sufficiently strong local contacts and representatives to get the best guides in the area working with their customers and not some other agency's. And to get their local representatives to be there when you check in and out to resolve any little issues- though I have to say that in our case there was none.

Would we use Dominion again? Sure we would. There might be a few little things we'd want to do differently next time but with 9 hotels, 9 guides and some complicated routing I'd be amazed if there weren't. Part of the measure of your agency is what happens when it looks like things could go wrong. We had two of those- neither was Dominion's fault and neither was predictable. In both cases between Dominion and the driver a solution was put in place and the effect on our trip was unnoticeable. That's good management. Thank you Bhavin in London and Mukesh in Delhi for creating a successful trip.
